Aubrey Independent School District (ISD) is pleased to announce the Aubrey High School Class of 2024 Top 10 graduates.
Petrus “Pieter” Koeman has earned the distinction of valedictorian as the senior with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Luke Travascio is the salutatorian for the Class of 2024 with the second-highest cumulative GPA.
Pieter has attended Aubrey schools since fourth grade and is the son of Pieter and Petra Koeman. He is humbled by the award for his academic success and shared what matters most to him beyond the designation.
“I always try to take these titles with a grain of salt because a title is not something that defines you; your character and actions do,” Pieter said.
Throughout high school, Pieter was involved in Band, Student Council, Beta Club, National Honor Society and UIL Academics and says Aubrey ISD helped him realize how choices made now impact his future.
“Aubrey ISD taught me that hard work, dedication, independence and communication are key factors for a successful life after high school,” Pieter said. “I have learned that building relationships are a key part of life.”
Being named as salutatorian brings Luke great pride that he attributes to his faith.
“It makes me feel accomplished and happy that God blessed me to be able to make it happen,” Luke said.
Luke has attended Aubrey schools since kindergarten and is the son of Nick and Tamika Travascio. He feels strongly that Aubrey ISD has prepared him for life beyond high school.
“Aubrey taught me hard work and discipline through athletics and school work,” he said.
During his high school years, Luke was involved in Soccer, Golf, Baseball, Bass Fishing, Beta Club and National Honor Society. He plans to attend Texas A&M to major in Biology.
