The Aubrey Independent School District received an overall district rating of a “B” for the 2022-2023 academic year under the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) newly updated accountability system. Following delays due to legal proceedings, the TEA publicly released these ratings on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The 2023 iteration of the state’s accountability system brought notable changes, including redesigned STAAR assessments with new question formats and a shift to an online testing platform. Additionally, the College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) metric underwent updates to incorporate more stringent requirements, which significantly impacted high school and district ratings statewide. Another significant adjustment was an increase in cut-off points for grade ratings (A-F), which meant that districts could maintain previous scores yet experience a drop in their letter-grade rating. Importantly, these revised standards were introduced after the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year, leaving districts to adapt to the unknown retroactively.
Aubrey ISD has consistently demonstrated its dedication to delivering exceptional educational experiences regardless of the accountability system changes over the years. The district’s achievements highlight a strong foundation of commitment to student success and overall growth. Beyond standardized testing, our students continue to excel, showcasing their determination, skills, and diverse talents across various areas of learning and development.
“While the release of the 2023 Texas school accountability ratings represents both a meaningful benchmark and an opportunity for reflection across our district, the scores provide a single measure of each campus’ performance,” Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. Shannor Saylor said. “That’s only part of the story of the dedicated work happening in our classrooms by our teachers and staff every day. Our focus continues to be on providing a well-rounded whole child education that prepares all students for future success.”
Aubrey ISD reaffirms its commitment to serving students and upholding the high standards for which the district is known. Looking ahead, the district is committed to continuous improvement and embracing innovative strategies that support student success.
