I am very proud of this group of girls who have spent their pre-season learning how to support each other and persevere through adversity. They have shown improvement every week as we prepare for our first district play. This tournament was the first time our program successfully performed in bracket play to advance to a final game for placement. We go back to work this week, and your Lady Chaps will return in action on Friday, January 12th! JV will play Sanger at 5:00p at Home, and Varsity will play Graham at 6:30 p.m. at Home!

Coach Smith Reports: Jan. 5 Aubrey 74 Pinkston 61 The Chaps improved their record to 17-7 with a win over a very good Dallas Pinkston Team. I am really pleased with how we started the game with great defensive team effort. Offensively, we shared the ball well and remained aggressive. This win gives us momentum heading into district. I really think all 6 teams in our district are potential playoff teams, which means it will be a battle to make the playoffs. The Aubrey Lady Chaps fell to 0-1 in district and 9-10 overall with a 38-23 loss to Panther Creek. The score by quarters for Aubrey were 8, 0, 8, 7. The score by quarters for Panther Creek were 13, 4, 8, 13. Scorers for Aubrey were Kynadi Hall with 9 points, Brooklyn Weier with 4, Landry Cannon with 3, Shelby Harrington, Molly Ward, and Abby Buxton with 2 points each, and Addy Cagle with 1 point.
I was very proud of the effort the girls gave today. We did a very good job in the 2-3 zone, and that kept us in the game. We just had a hard time scoring against the pressure that Panther Creek can apply. We got down early to start the game, but I was proud of the girls continuing to fight to stay in the game.
The Lady Chaps return to action on Tuesday night at home against Anna.

In 2011, Colleen Dow was elected to the Aubrey ISD School Board, a position she continues to hold with dedication, currently serving as vice president. Notably, she fulfilled the role of board secretary from May 2018 to May 2022. Mrs. Dow's motivation to serve on the school board stemmed from her deep connection to the school district as a parent of three children attending Aubrey schools. This personal investment allowed her to understand the needs and desires of fellow parents, shaping her commitment to her role on the board. #SchoolBoardMonth
Jim Milacek has been a member of the Aubrey ISD School Board for 20 years. He was elected as board president in May of 2021 and re-elected in May of 2022. Prior to his current presidency, Mr. Milacek served as board president from May 2018 to May 2020. Additionally, he held the position of vice president for five years and served as secretary for four years before that. Mr. Milacek's decision to join the school board stemmed from his involvement in a school bond committee, where he discovered a passion for serving in that capacity. After being approached about running for the school board, he gladly accepted the opportunity. #SchoolBoardMonth

It was a good game where everyone got plenty of playing time, and there was balanced scoring. Last Night, the Aubrey Boys' soccer team took on a stacked Bridgeport team and came up short, losing 4-1. The Chaps had numerous scoring opportunities and showed great skill in the air. Leo Mejia scored the only goal of the game for Aubrey, as they missed a penalty kick early on. Despite the scoreline, the Chaps had many positive aspects to build on and were much more competitive against Bridgeport this year. We invite you to come and support the Chaparrals as they face Graham on Saturday, January 6th, at 12:30 pm.
