Check out the Tuesday night basketball game reports for both your Lady Chaps and Gentlemen Chaps below. Coach Black Reports: Aubrey vs. Sanger A: 3 | 10 | 20 | 27 S: 10 | 27 | 36 | 53 Leading Scorers: • Margaret Conley: 8 • Addi Cagle: 4 • Layla Johnson: 3 • London Butler: 3 • Abby Lynch-Buxton: 3 The Lady Chaps traveled to Sanger last night for a district matchup and fell 27-53 to a very tough Sanger team. Once again, the girls played with grit and heart for all four quarters. We saw some improvements in our offense, and our defensive effort was strong. While we’re still working on limiting turnovers, the girls are learning from their mistakes and moving in the right direction. We have one more game before the break at home vs. Celina on Friday at 12:30 p.m. ———————————- Coach Smith Reports: We fought hard but came up short in a tough district road game, losing to Sanger in overtime 70-63. The team came out with a lot of energy in the first quarter, jumping out to an early lead. However, Sanger fought back in the second quarter, going on a few runs and sending us into halftime down by 2. We came out strong again in the second half, going on a quick run, but the rest of the game was a back-and-forth battle. In the end, they made a couple more shots than we did. I am extremely proud of how hard our boys played. This is going to be a challenging district, and we have 11 more district games ahead. We’ll regroup and get ready for Celina on Friday. Aubrey Scorers: • Tyler Brown: 8 • Marquez Lucas Jr.: 12 • Tyler Hightower: 17 • Aidan McKeehen: 7 • Jadin McMoore: 7 • Jaedon Bogar: 12 District Record: 0-1

Aubrey Boys Basketball Weekend Recap Dec. 13-14, 2024 Dec. 13: We lost to an extremely tough team from Australia in our second game of the day, 74-54. They had us outsized at every position with a starting lineup of a couple of 6’7” guys and a 6’6” shooting guard. Nevertheless, we came out with lots of energy and went into halftime tied 33-33. It hurt us when our 6’3” post got into foul trouble, causing us to be even smaller. I am extremely proud of how hard our kids fought the entire game. I believe that if we play with that intensity and desire, we will win a lot of district games. Aubrey Scorers:    •   Tyler Brown - 7    •   Marquez Lucas Jr. - 3    •   Tyler Hightower - 18    •   Aidan McKeehen - 8    •   Jadin McMoore - 14    •   Jaedon Bogar - 4 Overall Record: 11-4 Dec. 14: We had a rough game today against TCA as we lost 53-43. We struggled getting any kind of rhythm to our offense. I felt our defensive effort was good. We played hard, and I have to give some credit to TCA’s shooting ability as they shot the 3 ball well. I believe we will bounce back from this, learn from it, and be focused and ready for our first district game in Sanger on Tuesday. Aubrey Scorers:    •   Tyler Brown - 8    •   Marquez Lucas Jr. - 6    •   Tyler Hightower - 9    •   Aidan McKeehen - 6    •   Jadin McMoore - 3    •   Nate Dyer - 2    •   Jaedon Bogar - 9 Overall Record: 11-5 — Coach Smith

Aubrey Recap by Coach Smith: We started the game with a lot of energy last night. A strong defense led to some fast-break scores, helping us jump out to a 21-10 lead. However, we didn’t close out the quarter as well as we should have, allowing them to get back into the game. That said, we made noticeable improvements on areas that hurt us in the tournament. It was a solid win against a good Ponder team on their home court. The final score was 60-48. We have one tournament left before starting district play next Tuesday night.
