The Lady Chaps were defeated by Liberty Christian last night in 4 sets. We struggled to find our offensive consistency for much of the match. We had some really great moments on offense, but Liberty made it difficult for us to be consistent. I was proud of our defensive effort in the game. We did some really good things on defense, but we didn't capitalize on our opportunities in the match. We have to find ways to not allow unforced errors to hurt us in matches. We will be back in action on Friday, September 8th as we travel to Sanger to play. The varsity will play at 4:30, followed by the JV's.
The Aubrey Varsity Football game against Arlington Seguin will start at 7:00pm on Friday, September 8th at Chaparral Stadium. AAYSA participants must be lined up by team/squad in the north end zone by 6:15pm.
Friday morning, at the Fossil Ridge Run of the Panther Invitational, the Aubrey Cross Country teams were hard at work. Senior Gage Owen finished in 15th place overall in the Varsity Boys Division, with 155 runners in his heat. Sophomore Abby Turner led our Varsity Girls to the finish line in 26th place. We had several kids PR this race and we look forward to our next competition on September 9th at the MileSplit TX Invitational at South Lakes Park. The Lady Chaps finished 4th in the Forney Tournament. We learned a lot about ourselves this weekend. We fought hard all weekend long, and did some incredible things. Luck was not on our side Friday as we began pool play and with the first 10 minutes of the match, we had suffered two ankle injuries and we were down two hitters the remainder of the tournament. I can't say enough about our mental toughness throughout the weekend, everyone rallied and we adjusted the line-up and found ways to be highly successful. We played as a team and for each other, even though we had several players playing out of their normal positions. It was a hard two days of volleyball, and with four players playing all the way around ,due to injuries, the exhaustion finally got the best of us at the end of the day on Saturday. I was very proud of the way we played as a team this weekend. We will be back in action on Tuesday as travel to Melissa. The JV's will play at 5:00 pm, followed by the varsity.
