Aubrey Independent School District (ISD) is pleased to announce the hiring of Kelli Baker as the new Aubrey High School head girls soccer coach beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.
Coming to Aubrey ISD from serving as the varsity assistant girls soccer coach with two playoff appearances and a bi-district championship for Central High School in Keller ISD, Baker has over a decade of experience in coaching, training and evaluating players for success.
Baker has also held coaching and trainer positions in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, Westlake Academy, Southlake Carroll High School and Challenger British Soccer Camps. While in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD, he served as Boswell High School’s head girls soccer coach and had three playoff appearances.
“Coach Baker has a good head coaching track record with extensive experience,” Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor said. “I’m very confident he’s going to bring in a program with the ability to really develop our players and get us to the next level.”
Aubrey ISD Executive Director of Athletics Keith Ivy feels Baker is a great addition to Aubrey ISD athletics.
“We’re super excited for Coach Baker,” Ivy said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and success as a head coach and is a great fit in the Aubrey ISD athletics department. We’re excited for the future of the program under his leadership.”
A holder of U.S. Soccer D and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Level 5 licenses, Baker is happy about the opportunity the Aubrey High School girls soccer coaching position brings that allows him to scale down from a large 6A school to a smaller environment.
“I’m super excited to come be a part of a close knit community and bring my whole family to Aubrey ISD,” Baker said.
He also shared that his wife will be teaching at Monaco Elementary School and that his children will attend Aubrey High School.
Baker’s desire for the girls soccer team is that they develop ties, as he recalled building as an athlete himself, that will go far and benefit them in the future.
“I hope they establish lifelong friends, become lifelong athletes and be upstanding citizens with relationships beyond high school,” Baker said.
Baker holds a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to coaching and soccer licenses, Baker has social studies, history and physical education (PE) certifications.
