The Lady Chaps traveled to Dallas on Tuesday night to face a tough Ursuline Academy team. Once again, a rough second quarter put us in a hole heading into halftime, making it difficult to recover. However, there were several positives to take away from the game.
Our bench stepped up, contributing 13 points—more than in recent games—and our scoring was more evenly distributed, reflecting improvements in offensive execution.
The Lady Chaps will return to action this weekend at the S&S Tournament.
It was a great defensive effort to pull out a 59-44 road win. We struggled shooting and looked a little sloppy at times, but these guys played with great determination and grit, and that effort allowed them to come away with the win.
We have a tournament this weekend in Sanger, which will include 4 games played over 3 days.

All in all, the first day of the Texoma Showcase (hosted by Pottsboro and Denison) showed a lot of growth for the Lady Chaps. In game one we faced a very talented Frisco Reedy team. We came out and had our best start this season and held our own against a team that has more size and experience. We struggled in the middle two quarters to score, but showed major growth in our rebounding on both sides of the ball. Despite the loss, there were many things in that game to be proud of. We then took that growth and continued it into game 2 against Wolfe City. We learned a valuable lesson in the second quarter after another great first quarter about the importance of playing with the same intensity across all four quarters. We came back in the second half and fought hard, but ultimately could not overcome the hole we dug ourselves in the second quarter.

After a slow start this morning against Whitesboro, the Lady Chaps found the win column for the first time this season against Cooper High School. While the Lady Chaps struggled to score against Whitesboro, offense started to click in game 2. The girls came out with a chip on their shoulder and executed the game plan on both sides of the ball. Overall, there were a lot of lessons learned and improvements made going into a much needed 5 day bread. The Lady Chaps will be back in action on Tuesday, December 3 at Ursuline Academy.
Help give our Chaps a true Texas-sized send-off to the Regional Semifinals! The team will depart Aubrey High School at 12 p.m., traveling down Main Street. Let’s line Main with posters, cowbells, balloons, and, most importantly, fans!
Please park in designated spots, not along the street. Let’s show our Chaps how #AubreyProud we are!

Coach Smith Reports:
Aubrey boys brought their record to 4-0 with a victory against Liberty Christian by a score of 88-70. We came out with a lot of energy and moved the ball well on offense. It helped that our outside shots were falling, as we made 14 three-point shots, distributing the wealth with six different players contributing a three-pointer. Great teamwork allowed five different players to finish in double-digit scoring.
We still have areas to improve and are focused on getting better every day, but I’m pleased with how the team is playing together. We are preparing to face two 5A schools this coming week. Today, we travel to Frisco Centennial, and on Tuesday, we host Anna at home.

The Lady Chaps lost a close game to Centennial on Tuesday night, but there were plenty of positives. They shot the ball better than they have all season, hitting five 3-pointers in the first half. Their defensive effort and intensity were strong, and the coaching staff was pleased with how few points were allowed. Once the team improves on finishing inside against contact, they’ll be in good shape.
The Lady Chaps return to action tomorrow night for their first home game against Carrollton Ranchview.
All Aubrey ISD campuses and offices will be closed Monday through Friday, Nov. 25–29, for a student and staff holiday. Classes will resume on Monday, Dec. 2.
