We are proud to announce 6 AHS Bass Teams have qualified for the Regional Tournament being held at Possum Kingdom Lake on Saturday, April 20th! The competition only accepts the top 40% from our district. We are proud to have Brock Temple & Banks Buck, Jacie Weger & Jayce Rose, Tyler Ormsby, Jace Gonzalez, Garrett Whitley, and Billy Young & Parker Thurman representing us. Additionally, Aubrey secured an impressive 3rd place finish in District out of 41 schools.
Over the weekend, our boys' powerlifting team competed in the regional meet at Decatur High School. Overall, we came in 4th out of 27 teams. Toby Davis won as the 181lb regional champion and is a State Qualifier with a total of 1490lbs. Aaron Freyer placed 2nd in the 165lb class, also a State Qualifier, with a total of 1335lbs. Reese Saunders placed 4th in the 198lb class, qualifying for State with a total of 1400lbs. Xavier McCoy placed 3rd in the 275lb class, becoming an alternate for the State meet, with a total of 1450lbs. Christian Southard placed 4th in the 114lb class, and Tyler Stuckey placed 8th in the 132lb class. Of the 6 competitors, 5 brought home medals in their respective weight classes. We are proud of the hard work and determination shown by these young men and are excited for those going to compete at the State Powerlifting meet held on March 22nd in Abilene.
The Aubrey Chaparrals Boys Track Team had four athletes invited to compete in the 2024 Bluebonnet High School Track Meet held at E.B. Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M. The meet was held on March 1st and 2nd. The four athletes were: Landon Martino, Brock Temple, Ryan McMeen and Tyler Brown. These four athletes not only competed against some of the best in Texas, but some of the BEST athletes in the Nation! Please see results below:

Saturday, the final day of the tournament, Aubrey defeated Princeton (4-3) on a 'walk off' two out, two RBI single by Grant Liebenstein. Steve Smetana, a dedicated substitute teacher at Fuller Elementary School, achieved a major milestone this week by conquering the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa. Carrying the Chaparral flag with him, he proudly declared, "Inspire, Nurture and Empower," echoing the Aubrey Independent School District's mission statement. Currently in Tanzania, Mr. Smetana shared that he selected the Chaparral flag as a symbol of his love for his Fuller family and everything Aubrey ISD represents. Without a doubt, Mr. Smetana embodies the spirit of an #InspiringChap.
The Girls' Soccer team triumphed over Pilot Point tonight, securing a 4-1 victory. Landry Gannon netted three goals and assisted on another, while Lilly Stewart added one goal. Kendall Sweetman, Alexis Quinn, and Maria Maldonado each contributed with an assist. This win marks a significant turnaround for the girls after a challenging week, showcasing their resilience both on and off the field. Next Tuesday, March 5th, the Lady Chaps will hit the road for their third consecutive game, facing Gainesville. The JV match kicks off at 5:30 PM, followed by Varsity at 7:15 PM. The Aubrey Boys' soccer team emerged victorious against a determined Pilot Point squad with a 1-0 win. Aubrey exhibited a more possessive style of play than usual, leading to a goal by Kevin Prado. They dominated the second half with possession and shots, despite Pilot Point's goalie putting on a stellar performance. Despite facing injuries and a yellow card, Aubrey ensured that everyone got playing time. Next Tuesday, for Senior Night, Aubrey faces a tough Gainesville Team, with the JV game starting at 5:30 PM and Varsity at 7:15 PM at Chaparral Stadium.

Monday
The girls teams competed in the Lindsay Invitational at Gainesville Golf Course. This was the 1st tournament of their high school career for all players. Each player gained valuable lessons and experience that will help them to better themselves for the rest of the season. The top scorer on the team was Kate Fetters, who posted a 112.
Tuesday
Aubrey #2 golf team competed in the Lindsay Invitational at Gainesville Golf Course. All players played much better from their previous tournament. They all look forward to the next tournament to keep improving.The top scorer on the team was Blake Eisley, who posted a 101.
Wednesday
Aubrey #1 golf team competed in the McKinney High Invitational at Oak Hollow Golf Club. With the brutal conditions, play was suspended after 9 holes. Today, the players learned how to play the ball in very windy conditions. Luke Bartel and Grant Ramsey led the team at +10 at the turn.
Both Girls and Boys will look to improve their game next week at Stone Creek Golf Course in Sherman.

Aubrey lost to Celina last night 5-0. Injuries are starting to show themselves significantly, and the boys are still in the playoff hunt despite the last few performances. The boys look to play an attacking style Anna team on Tuesday, and if they catch the right Aubrey team, it could bode very well for the Chaparrals. Kickoff is at 7:15 PM on Tuesday night. Aubrey Varsity Baseball kicked off the 2024 season Thursday at the Lake Dallas/Northwest ISD Tournament. The Chaps came up short in both games Thursday, falling to Frisco Memorial 9-3 and Keller Fossil Ridge 11-7. Braeden Flak hit a pair of triples and had two RBIs. Ryan McMeen also had a triple and scored two runs for the day.
On Friday, the Chaps lost a very close game to Colleyville Heritage 4-3 and beat Northwest 6-2 to pick up their first win of the season. In the Heritage game, Hank Nokes pitched great over five innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out three hitters. Branden West picked up his first win of the season on the mound vs Northwest, throwing four innings, allowing four hits, one run, and striking out two. Offensively, Ryan McMeen had two hits including a double with one RBI, and Toby Davis hit a triple with two RBIs.
The Chaps will wrap up the Lake Dallas/Northwest ISD Tournament on Saturday in Lake Dallas at 12:15 p.m.
