Happy Holidays!
This year’s district holiday luncheon took on a new look but still served as a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season. Each campus celebrated uniquely, with meals and treats for their staff in festive styles. At the high school, breakfast was delivered door-to-door. Staff district and campus gifts were also handed out. To start the holiday festivities, retirees, Chaparral Legacy Cooperative members, and district administrators enjoyed a luncheon at Aubrey Middle School, highlighted by a variety of student performances. We wish all our families a holiday season filled with rest, joy, and cherished moments together. Watch video here: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/14W6vPqWd3/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Coach Smith Reports:
We had a fantastic district win on the road against a very strong Celina team, with a final score of 58-57. We started the game with great energy, jumping out to an early lead. Our defense was solid, and we controlled the ball well on offense, building an 8-point lead by halftime.
We carried that momentum into the third quarter, but Celina, being a tough opponent, went on a run to take a 2-point lead heading into the fourth. The final quarter was a battle, going back and forth. With a minute to go, we were down by 3 points. A great drive along the baseline led to an assist to our post for a bucket, cutting the deficit to one. Then, an incredible defensive effort resulted in a steal, followed by a penetrating drive that ended with our post scoring the game-winning layup.
It was an outstanding team effort and a strong win to carry us into the Christmas break.

The Lady Chaps traveled to Sanger last night for a district matchup and fell 27-53 to a very tough Sanger team. Once again, the girls played with grit and heart for all four quarters. We saw some improvements in our offense, and our defensive effort was strong. While we’re still working on limiting turnovers, the girls are learning from their mistakes and moving in the right direction.
We have one more game before the break at home vs. Celina on Friday at 12:30 p.m.

Coach Smith Reports:
We fought hard but came up short in a tough district road game, losing to Sanger in overtime 70-63. The team came out with a lot of energy in the first quarter, jumping out to an early lead. However, Sanger fought back in the second quarter, going on a few runs and sending us into halftime down by 2.
We came out strong again in the second half, going on a quick run, but the rest of the game was a back-and-forth battle. In the end, they made a couple more shots than we did. I am extremely proud of how hard our boys played. This is going to be a challenging district, and we have 11 more district games ahead. We’ll regroup and get ready for Celina on Friday.
Aubrey Scorers:
• Tyler Brown: 8
• Marquez Lucas Jr.: 12
• Tyler Hightower: 17
• Aidan McKeehen: 7

Aubrey Boys Basketball Weekend Recap
Dec. 13-14, 2024
Dec. 13:
We lost to an extremely tough team from Australia in our second game of the day, 74-54. They had us outsized at every position with a starting lineup of a couple of 6’7” guys and a 6’6” shooting guard. Nevertheless, we came out with lots of energy and went into halftime tied 33-33. It hurt us when our 6’3” post got into foul trouble, causing us to be even smaller. I am extremely proud of how hard our kids fought the entire game. I believe that if we play with that intensity and desire, we will win a lot of district games.
Aubrey Scorers:
• Tyler Brown - 7
• Marquez Lucas Jr. - 3
• Tyler Hightower - 18
• Aidan McKeehen - 8
• Jadin McMoore - 14
• Jaedon Bogar - 4
Overall Record: 11-4
Dec. 14:
We had a rough game today against TCA as we lost 53-43. We struggled getting any kind of rhythm to our offense. I felt our defensive effort was good. We played hard, and I have to give some credit to TCA’s shooting ability as they shot the 3 ball well. I believe we will bounce back from this, learn from it, and be focused and ready for our first district game in Sanger on Tuesday.
Aubrey Scorers:
• Tyler Brown - 8
• Marquez Lucas Jr. - 6
• Tyler Hightower - 9
• Aidan McKeehen - 6
• Jadin McMoore - 3
• Nate Dyer - 2
• Jaedon Bogar - 9
Overall Record: 11-5

Aubrey High School Alum and FFA Member Alexis Reese Blankenship Earns Prestigious American FFA Degree
The Aubrey FFA Chapter is proud to announce that Alexis Reese Blankenship, a 2023 graduate of Aubrey High School, has been awarded the American FFA Degree, the highest honor bestowed by the National FFA Organization. This distinction, earned by less than 1% of FFA members each year, recognizes Alexis’s outstanding dedication to agricultural education, leadership, and career development.
Alexis achieved this prestigious degree through her Placement Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) at Aubrey Florist, where she gained extensive hands-on experience in floral design, customer service, and small business operations. Her work at Aubrey Florist not only refined her technical skills but also highlighted her creativity and professionalism, making her an exemplary ambassador of FFA values.

Alexis’s unwavering commitment to her SAE and the Aubrey FFA Chapter is a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and passion for the agriculture industry.
The Aubrey FFA Chapter is incredibly proud of Alexis for earning this distinguished honor and for serving as a role model to her peers. Her success exemplifies the spirit of FFA and its mission to cultivate leaders in agriculture and beyond. #aubreyproud

Coach Black Reports:
The Lady Chaps fell short in their first district game last night against Lake Dallas. After jumping out to a 7-2 lead early in the first quarter, we struggled offensively, managing only 1 point in the second and third quarters. Despite our offensive challenges, I was very pleased with our defensive effort, holding a team averaging over 40 points per game to just 31. As always, I am incredibly proud of the effort and intensity our team displayed and continue to see growth with every game. Final Score: Aubrey: 8 | 9 | 9 | 17 Lake Dallas: 10 | 17 | 28 | 31 Leading Scorers: • Marquia Lucas: 5 • Addi Cagle: 4 • Abby Lynch-Buxton: 3 • Paris Butler: 3 Current Record: 3-12, 0-1 We will be back in action on Friday at home against Gainesville.
Aubrey Recap by Coach Smith:
We started the game with a lot of energy last night. A strong defense led to some fast-break scores, helping us jump out to a 21-10 lead. However, we didn’t close out the quarter as well as we should have, allowing them to get back into the game.
That said, we made noticeable improvements on areas that hurt us in the tournament. It was a solid win against a good Ponder team on their home court. The final score was 60-48.
We have one tournament left before starting district play next Tuesday night.
Aubrey Scorers:
• Tyler Brown: 4
• Marquez Lucas Jr.: 9
