AEF Literacy Program
AEF volunteers visit Aubrey ISD's Early Bird Learning Center several times a year to read to the pre-K classrooms. The AEF Literacy Program strives to help encourage reading and build home libraries for EBLC children. In addition to reading to the children, AEF also sends a book home with every child.
The program started in the 2016-17 school year with two visits to the EBLC and has expanded to monthly visits the following year. In 2018-19, the literacy program expanded to Brockett and Monaco Elementary Schools, where they read twice a year to the kindergarten students and once to 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. With the help of more volunteers, the literacy program is expanding again in 2019-20, reading to K-3, two times a year.
