The Aubrey Chaparral/Lady Chaparral Track Teams competed in the Van Alstyne Panther Relays on Wednesday, March 6. Boys’ varsity team finished 1st overall and our JV Boys 2nd in their divisionrespectively. The Lady Chaps finished 3rd in both Varsity and the JV division. The Girls Soccer Team finished their inaugural district season with a 4-0 win over Bonham! Landry Gannon scored 4 goals, and Brynnlee Bohannon had 3 assists. Bi-district playoffs will begin the week of March 25th! Finalized information for our playoff game will be released soon!

Our girls competed at the Region 6 4A DII regional meet at Decatur High School on Thursday, February 29. In order to qualify for regionals, a lifter must be in the top 12 in the regional standings within their respective weight class.
Place medals were given for 1st through 5th place. A * indicates that the lifter will be advancing to the state meet on March 15 at the Comerica Center in Frisco, TX. To qualify for state, the lifter must finish in the top two of their weight or lift the state auto-qualification total. Here is how our girls did:

We took home a total of 17 medals: 8 x 1st place, 2 x 2nd place, 2 x 3rd place, 2 x 4th place, 3 x 5th place. We also took home 7 out of the 8 possible outstanding lifter awards. Additionally, Coach Gathright and Coach McAlister were awarded the Coaches of the Year for the 3rd year in a row.

The Boys and Girls golf teams competed this week in the Anna Coyote Invitational at Stone Creek Golf Club. It is very apparent players are learning from previous mistakes and improving their game. The top scorer on the boys' team was Luke Bartel, who posted an 86 (18th out of 90 golfers). The top scorer on the girls' side, in just her 2nd career tournament, was Kate Fetters. Kate posted a 100, which was 11th out of 68 golfers.

Over the weekend, our boys' powerlifting team competed in the regional meet at Decatur High School. Overall, we came in 4th out of 27 teams. Toby Davis won as the 181lb regional champion and is a State Qualifier with a total of 1490lbs. Aaron Freyer placed 2nd in the 165lb class, also a State Qualifier, with a total of 1335lbs. Reese Saunders placed 4th in the 198lb class, qualifying for State with a total of 1400lbs. Xavier McCoy placed 3rd in the 275lb class, becoming an alternate for the State meet, with a total of 1450lbs. Christian Southard placed 4th in the 114lb class, and Tyler Stuckey placed 8th in the 132lb class. Of the 6 competitors, 5 brought home medals in their respective weight classes. We are proud of the hard work and determination shown by these young men and are excited for those going to compete at the State Powerlifting meet held on March 22nd in Abilene.
We are proud to announce 6 AHS Bass Teams have qualified for the Regional Tournament being held at Possum Kingdom Lake on Saturday, April 20th! The competition only accepts the top 40% from our district. We are proud to have Brock Temple & Banks Buck, Jacie Weger & Jayce Rose, Tyler Ormsby, Jace Gonzalez, Garrett Whitley, and Billy Young & Parker Thurman representing us. Additionally, Aubrey secured an impressive 3rd place finish in District out of 41 schools.
The Aubrey Chaparrals Boys Track Team had four athletes invited to compete in the 2024 Bluebonnet High School Track Meet held at E.B. Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M. The meet was held on March 1st and 2nd. The four athletes were: Landon Martino, Brock Temple, Ryan McMeen and Tyler Brown. These four athletes not only competed against some of the best in Texas, but some of the BEST athletes in the Nation! Please see results below:
