Coach Dumond Reports:
Jan. 11
The Aubrey Boys Soccer team played a tough match against Sulphur Springs. It was an extremely hard-fought battle, but unfortunately, Aubrey came up just short. At halftime, Aubrey had a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Juan Serrano. However, during the second half, Aubrey had two penalty kicks, both of which Sulphur Springs scored on. The second penalty kick was a result of an Aubrey player being called for a handball while protecting his face from a shot in a packed box. The final score was 2-1 in favor of Sulphur Springs.
Despite the loss, Aubrey dominated the game and proved to be the stronger team.

The Aubrey Boys Soccer team took on Bridgeport for the second time in as many weeks. They played a very defensive counter-attacking style of play. Bridgeport managed to score late in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead, but they never scored again.
In the second half, Aubrey did not allow any scoring opportunities. They countered several times, hitting the left post twice and the right post once. Earlier this week, Bridgeport was ranked as the #1 team in the state and is currently ranked #8 by MaxPreps. This was the best game Aubrey has played to date, and we are extremely proud of the boys' effort today.

The Aubrey Boys Soccer team played their final game of the Celina Tournament against Sunnyvale. It was a gritty performance by the boys, as they faced a tough opponent in state-ranked Sunnyvale. In the first half, they had to contend with a strong wind from an arctic blast and Sunnyvale's high-powered offense. Sunnyvale managed to score off a rebound from one of many corners, taking the lead at halftime with a score of 1-0.
In the second half, with the wind at their back, Aubrey scored a beautiful back post header from right back Clark Stewart. Later, Juan Serrano scored from a corner, securing the victory for Aubrey. Despite a relentless attack from Sunnyvale, Aubrey's backline held strong, and they won the game with a final score of 2-1.
Next, Aubrey will face Sanger on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Chaparral Stadium at 6 PM. We invite you to come out and support the team in their final game before the start of district play!

Margaret finished 9th overall and Brody won 4th place.

Macy Childers scored 2 goals and had 2 assists. Junior, Alison Fleming, scored 1 goal. Maria Maldonado scored 1 goal. Jordin Gomez had 1 assist.
After focusing on offense all week in practice, it was fun to see the team connect offensively with each other for this game. Defense maintained composure throughout the game, and made numerous offensive runs creating scoring opportunities for the team. Overall, I am proud of this team for applying practice to game day performance this week. The girls return to action on Tuesday, in Wichita Falls. JV plays Wichita Falls at 4:00 followed by Varsity vs Wichita Falls at 6:00!

Van Alstyne 61
This was definitely not our best offensive performance of the year against Van Alstyen. Their size and zone defense caused us trouble, as they hit 12 threes against our man defense. In contrast, we only managed to hit 5 threes against their zone. Our game plan was to speed them up and turn it into a full court game, but they were able to match our pace. Ultimately, the difference was that they shot the ball better than us, even in transition. We will regroup and focus on improving for our game against Celina on Tuesday.
Record Overall 17-8
District 0-1

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) describes the role of a school board in the following way: the role of the school board is to ensure that a shared vision and goals are adopted for the district, establish systems and processes to accomplish those goals, allocate resources and provide support to ensure progress and accountability. The school board also advocates for the success of all students and works collaboratively with the district superintendent. We believe that the Aubrey ISD board does an excellent job of meeting each of these expectations. #SchoolBoardMonth
