The Chaparrals come up short Friday night.
Coach Smith Reports:
Aubrey's overall record now stands at 20-9 and 3-2 in district play with a loss to a very tough Anna team. We started the game hot, exchanging buckets with Anna and hitting 3 threes in the first quarter. Anna has the quickest team in the district and they are also extremely good shooters, which is a tough combination to defend.
We were tied at 17 in the first quarter with a minute to go, and Anna made a short run to take the lead. They had another run on us in the second quarter, causing us to go into halftime down 12 points. I am extremely proud of how our guys came out in the second half and played very aggressively, making good plays on both ends of the floor. We cut the lead to 5 points with 3 minutes to go, but Anna hit a couple of threes to extend the lead back.
I am very proud of this team with how hard they compete. We have a tough second round ahead of us with 3 of the 5 remaining games at home. This will be a fun team to come out and support over the next 2 weeks.

Coach Gathright Reports:

The scoring breakdown by quarters for Aubrey was 4, 11, 6, 8, while Anna scored 7, 14, 9, 8 in each respective quarter. Leading scorers for Aubrey were Shelby Harrington with 11 points, Kynadi Hall with 8, Brooklyn Weier with 3, and Landry Gannon with 2.
Next, the Lady Chaps will be back in action on Tuesday, playing at home against Van Alstyne.
The Aubrey Soccer Program Sweeps Farmersville Friday Night Coach Woodward Reports: The Aubrey Girls soccer team won their first district home game against Farmersville with a score of 8-2! The Lady Chaps now have a record of 4-4 overall and 1-1 in district. Macy Childers scored 3 goals and assisted 1 goal, while Brynnlee Bohannon scored 3 goals. Landry Gannon scored 1 goal and assisted 1 goal, and Laney Lomas, Lilly Stewart, Kendall Sweetman, and Alexis Quinn each assisted 1 goal. The girls' next game will be on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Celina at 7:15 p.m. Coach Dumond Reports: Last night was a special night for Aubrey Soccer as the boys played in a nail-biter against a scrappy Farmersville team. The first half was spent in the midfield with a few opportunities for both teams, and Aubrey fighting against the wind. However, neither team managed to find the back of the net in the first half. In the second half, Farmersville played a very compact game while Aubrey dominated possession and took shot after shot, but still couldn't find the goal. The game ended in a 0-0 tie in regulation. It then went to penalty kicks, with Aubrey winning 4-3. The penalty kicks were scored respectively by Spencer Berger, Vladyslav Dryshliuk, Aiden Pearson, and Osvaldo Osorio. Next Tuesday, Aubrey will face district rival Celina at home with a 7:15 p.m. kick-off. We encourage everyone to come out and pack the stands!
All Aubrey ISD schools and district buildings will be open as scheduled tomorrow, Jan. 26, 2024. Water has been restored to residents, however the Town of Providence Village has issued a boil water notice. We thank Providence Village officials for their diligence in providing updates.

Jan. 19
Aubrey improved our overall record to 19-8 and 2-1 in district play with a win over Carrollton Ranchview, 58-36. All wins in the district are big, especially any road win in this district.
We had a hard time at the start of the game finishing our shots, but turned it around on defense in the second quarter to come back and take the lead at half. The second half was a very good half for us. We were aggressive offensively and defensively. I am very proud of this team for being able to adjust during the game and find a way to come out with a win.
Next up is a very big home game against Panther Creek, who is currently leading the district at 3-0. We would love to see a full house on Tuesday night to help us compete well against a very strong team.

The Aubrey Soccer boys team played Sanger tonight for their final non-district game at home. The score at half was 1-0, with only one goal punched through by Leo Mejia. During the second half, the Aubrey attack remained relentless and the offense woke up with another goal by Leo. Juan Serrano scored a goal off of a build-up to make it 3-0. Aubrey scored on two corners to finalize the game, with Freshman Osvaldo Osorio and Senior David Lopez scoring from corner kicks delivered by Leo Mejia. Tonight, the Aubrey Chaps accomplished exactly what they were aiming for in a lopsided victory of 5-0 against a rival, with everyone getting playing time heading into district play next week.
Aubrey faces off against the #2 team in the region next week in Frisco Panther Creek for the first-ever district game in school history. The game is at Panther Creek High School at 5:45 PM next Wednesday, January 24th. Hope to see you there!

The Lady Chaps Soccer team fell to a 3-3 record after a 2-5 loss to Wichita Falls. Brynnlee Bohannon scored 1 goal, and freshman Landry Gannon also scored 1 goal. Macy Childers had 1 assist.
The girls started strong in the first half, taking the lead 2-1. However, in the second half, we became slightly relaxed and allowed Wichita Falls to score 3 goals within 8 minutes. It was a tough but valuable lesson for us, and we will carry it with us into our upcoming district play.
Next, the girls will be in action on Wednesday, Jan. 24 against Frisco Panther Creek. The varsity game will kick off at 7:15 p.m. at Panther Creek, marking our first district game in program history!

Great win tonight at home for the Chaps, improving our overall record to 18-8 and 1-1 in district play. I was really proud of the energy the guys brought from the beginning of the game and never let up. We had aggressive team defense and shared the ball well on offense. In the last minute of the game, we went 6 for 6 on free throws to seal the win. Although we still have a long way to go in District, we are going to get back to work to be ready for a tough game on the road at Ranchview.

The Aubrey Lady Chaps improved to 1-3 in district and 10-12 overall with a 61-41 win over Celina. Score by quarters for Aubrey were 12, 19, 12, 18. Score by quarters for Celina were 14, 9, 6, 12. Scorers for Aubrey were Kynadi Hall with 21 points, Brooklyn Weier with 16, Landry Gannon with 8, Shelby Harrington with 6, Addie Cagle with 5, and Molly Ward with 3.
The girls did a great job with our full-court press and caused several turnovers, which turned into transition baskets for us. We got off to a rough start by committing several turnovers in the first quarter, but I was really proud of the way the girls hung in there and turned the game around.
The Lady Chaps return to action on Friday night at Ranchview.
