Coach Smith Reports: Jan. 2 Aubrey 73 Lake Worth 39 Aubrey improved its record to 16-7. The team came out with a lot of energy and had a strong first quarter. It was a good game where everyone got plenty of playing time, and there was balanced scoring. We have one more non-district game on Friday to prepare for district play, which will be at home against Dallas Pinkston. The Chaps had numerous scoring opportunities and showed great skill in the air. Leo Mejia scored the only goal of the game for Aubrey, as they missed a penalty kick early on. Despite the scoreline, the Chaps had many positive aspects to build on and were much more competitive against Bridgeport this year. We invite you to come and support the Chaparrals as they face Graham on Saturday, January 6th, at 12:30 pm.

In January, School Boards in Texas are celebrated for their tireless efforts. These board members are elected by local citizens and serve without compensation. Coach Dumond Reports: Dec. 29 Yesterday, the Aubrey Boys Soccer program opened their 2023-2024 season with a victory over Caddo Mills. This marked the first ever U.I.L. sanctioned game in school history. The Chaparrals got off to a strong start, scoring a couple of early goals. By halftime, the score was 4-0 in favor of the Chaps. The Chaps ultimately won the game 7-0 against Caddo Mills, with goals from Juan Serrano (3), Leo Mejia (2), Spencer Berger (1), and Paul Bracho (1). Next, the Chaps will face Bridgeport at Bridgeport on Jan. 2 at 6 PM.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 29 Aubrey 56 Celina 65 This was a tough loss in the championship game in the Allen Tournament, which brings our record to 15-7. Celina came out on fire hitting 7 threes in the first half. I was very proud of how our boys responded in the third quarter with lots of energy to take a 2 point lead going into the 4th. The game was close to the end but Celina was able to seal it with 9 made free throws in the 4th quarter. I believe we will grow from this and make us more prepared for them in district play. Aubrey contributors include Tyler Hightower (14), Branden West (2), Gavin Barnes (4), Jaedon Bogar (6), Emory Jones (7), and Elijah Herron (23). Record Overall  15-7

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 28 Aubrey 57 Davenport HS 49 Aubrey improved to 15-6 with a win over a very good Davenport team in the Allen Tournament.  I am proud of our defense tonight. The team we played has been averaging over 70 points per game. Our guys locked in and played great team defense.  This puts us in a situation to play for a championship tomorrow at 2 pm. Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 28 Aubrey 61 Sunnyvale HS 4 Aubrey improved to 14-6 with a win over Sunnyvale in the Allen Tournament. I was happy with the energy that our guys came out with. This was a great team effort. Getting ready to play the winner of City View and Davenport this evening at 6:30pm. Scorers for Aubrey, Tyler Hightower scored 8 points, Branden West scored 2 points, Gavin Barnes scored 14 points, Jaedon Bogar scored 5 points, Emory Jones scored 9 points, Tyler Brown scored 2 points, and Elijah Herron scored 21 points.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 27 Aubrey 62 Corsicana HS 44 Aubrey improved today to 13-6 with a win over Corsicana at the Allen Tournament. We jumped out to a fast 10-0 start in the first 4 minutes of the game. We did not shoot very well from the outside in the first half. We did a good job of attacking the glass and scoring in the paint. In the second half, Corsicana went to a zone and our guards did a good job of hitting outside shots and attacking the zone in the middle. We play another game tomorrow against Sunnyvale. Aubrey Scorers: Luke Applin scored 2 points, Tyler Hightower scored 4 points, Branden West scored 8 points, Gavin Barnes scored 12 points, Emory Jones scored 11 points, and Elijah Herron scored 2 points.

At tonight's board meeting, Fuller Elementary School students Jorge Arenas and Liam Hernandez led the pledge, representing the first-ever Aubrey ISD bilingual pre-k class. They were joined by Audrey Niyonsenga a student in the English as a Second Language (ESL)/Emergent Bilingual (EB) Program. The pledge was followed by the board recognizing Aubrey High School Football players for their Academic All-State honors and Volleyball team members for their All-State/Academic All-State honors. Coach Gathright Reports: Dec. 19 The Aubrey Lady Chaps fell to 9-9 on the year with a 32-30 loss to Sanger. Score by quarters for Aubrey were 10, 6, 9, 5. Score by quarters for Sanger were 5, 12, 6, 9. Scorers for Aubrey were Brooklyn Weier with 12 points, Shelby Harrington with 9, Addy Cagle with 7, and Abby Buxton with 2. I was really proud of the effort our girls played with tonight despite multiple injuries and sickness. I thought we did a good job in our zone defense tonight to give ourselves a chance to win. We missed a couple of opportunities in the fourth quarter to win as well.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 19 Aubrey 61 Sanger47 I was glad to see our team come out with lots of energy. The first quarter I thought we played great team defense. It was a good way to finish before the break. After Christmas we have a really tough tournament at Allen, then we will be getting ready for our district opponents. Aubrey had a strong performance with multiple scorers. Tyler Hightower contributed 4 points, Branden West scored 10 points, Brock Temple added 2 points, Gavin Barnes scored 8 points, Jaedon Bogar led with 16 points, Emory Jones contributed 8 points, Tyler Brown scored 2 points, Elijah Herron added 9 points, and Avry Smith scored 2 points.

No final exam may be given earlier than the scheduled time. Denton ATC students need to make arrangements with teachers to make up exams or have an alternate option if there is a conflict. All ATC students should attend final exam times as scheduled. Make-up exams are on Jan. 8, 2024. Schedule a time with your teacher if necessary.

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 16 We struggled in the first half of today's game but the guys turned it around in the second half with much better defensive energy. We executed well in the 4th quarter to come away with the win. It was a great team effort with five guys scoring in double figures. Aubrey scorers were Tyler Hightower with 10 points, Branden West with 12 points, Brock Temple with 1 point, Gavin Barnes with 10 points, Jaedon Bogar with 2 points, Emory Jones with 14 points, and Elijah Herron with 10 points.

The Aubrey Middle School (AMS) One Act Play won first place and received numerous acting awards. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for their outstanding achievements!

Coach Smith Reports: Dec. 15 Played the 2nd game of the day with a lot more energy which led to a strong first quarter. Really proud of how the guys stuck together through a very tough losing streak. We know that adversity causes some men to break and others to break records. We are challenging these young men to use this adversity to help us be the best team we can be. It was good to see them finish the day with a successful win. Aubrey Luke Applin had a total of 6 points. Tyler Hightower scored 10 points, while Branden West contributed 8 points. Gavin Barnes scored 3 points, Jaedon Bogar had 7 points, and Emory Jones led the team with 12 points. Elijah Herron scored 8 points, and Avry Smith contributed 4 points.
