Aubrey vs Van Alstyne 24-26, 25-17, 25-20, 25-13 Record: 32- 10 District: 7- 1 Kills: Annaleise Sevier (28), Kynadi Hall (13), Chloe Miller (9), Abby Wright (6), Olivia Starr (2), Shelby Harrington (2) Blocks: Kynadi Hall (2), Annaleise Sevier (1), Shelby Harrington (1), Chloe Miller (1) Digs: Kaitlyn Walters (31), Annaleise Sevier (19), Baylee Hampton (19), Olivia Starr (16), Kynadi Hall (13), Chloe Miller (5), Shelby Harrington (4) Aces: Kynadi Hall (1), Baylee Hamtpn (1) Assists: Olivia Starr (41), Baylee Hampton (6), Kynadi Hall (4), Kaitlyn Walters (2) The Lady Chaps defeated Van Alstyne in four sets last night. We started the match out fast and looked really sharp and clean. We committed too many errors towards the end of the set to allow Van Alstyne to take the set. We started finding our rhythm in set two and played a much cleaner set. We continued that rhythm the rest of the way. We really found our rhythm in set 4 and controlled from start to finish of the set. We looked much more fluid on defense from start to finish of the match. We did a much better job after the first set of limiting our hitting mistakes as well. We did a really good job of getting every hitter involved in the offense. We will continue district play on Friday, as we travel to Celina to play. The varsity will play at 4:30, followed by the JV's.

DeAnn Hellman Morris, Tracy Yarbrough, and Marilyn Hampton were recently inducted as Chaparral Elite for 2023. DeAnn Hellman Morris moved to Aubrey in 5th grade. During her time as a student in Aubrey ISD, she wrote the lyrics for the current school song and was valedictorian of her class. After graduating, Morris continued to actively support Aubrey ISD. She played a pivotal role in the construction of the Chaparral Football Stadium, championing the bond that made it possible. Tracy Yarbrough, affectionately known as TY by those that know him, dedicated 18 years of his life to being an Aubrey ISD AG Teacher, FFA Advisor, and football announcer. Graduating from Aubrey High School in 1979, he was a standout quarterback for the Chaparrals. Throughout his career, Yarbrough played a pivotal role in shaping young men and women into resilient and capable leaders. Ms. Hampton dedicated 39 years of service to Aubrey ISD, ensuring clean and healthy school buildings for students. Ms. Marilyn consistently pursued excellence in her work, serving teachers, staff, students, and the community. She poured her whole heart into her service. We would like to extend our congratulations to the 2023 Chaparral Elite inductees. Their exceptional achievements and contributions have earned them this outstanding honor.

We struggled in the first set, but settled down and took the win. We played well in the second set. In the third set, we made unforced errors and couldn't establish our rhythm. However, we took control from the start in set 4 and never looked back. Our defense was strong and we kept Anna out of system with our spot serving. We had too many unforced errors on offense and need to improve. We will be hosting Van Alstyne on Tuesday for our second to last home game of the season. Come out and support your Lady Chaps.

We struggled early on in the match in serve receive and allowed Panther Creek to gain some momentum. We finally settled down, and looked much better in serve receive. We looked really sharp on offense and defense in set 2. I was proud of our fight at the end of set 3. We allowed Panther Creek to take the lead late in three, but we didn't panic and just went back to work to finish the set. We will be back in action on Friday, as we travel to Anna to continue district play. The varsity will play at 4:30, followed by the JV1.
